Dolerite dyke intrusions are a common geological feature encountered by the underground coal mines of South Africa. Being an intrusive, igneous rock that differs from the surrounding coal seam, mines often do not have the equipment, skills or merely the time to develop through the dyke.It is in some cases not viable to mine through the dyke, but more often than not, valuable reserves are available beyond the dyke.
SENTINEL has the knowledge, experience and equipment to safely drill and blast dykes and to support the often very unstable strata that was disturbed by the intrusion. SENTINEL has experienced, competent and licensed jackhammer and facedrill operators that can operate the clients equipment. Where clients do not have the required equipment, SENTINEL will provide equipment to develop dykes safely & efficiently at a cost-effective rate.
